Tsavo East and Tsavo West national parks
Tsavo-East is one of Kenya’s oldest and largest National Parks: covering approx. 40 per cent of the total area of all Kenya’s National Parks. Its beautiful landscape and proximity to the coast make it a popular safari destination. It is accredited as one of the world’s leading biodiversity strongholds, bushy grassland and open plains alternate with semi-arid acacia scrub and woodlands. Green swathes cross the park where the river banks give raise to lush vegetation. North of Galana is a true wilderness.
The Ngorongoro Crater
Nearly three million years ago Ngorongoro towered alongside Mount Kilimanjaro as one of the highest peaks in Africa. Forged during the tumultuous birth of the Rift Valley, its volcanic top erupted at the time that ancient man first walked the plains. http://www.ngorongorocrater.org/index.html
The Serengeti national park
The park covers 14,763 sq km of endless rolling plains, which reach up to the Kenyan border and extends almost to Lake Victoria. The park is flourishing with magnificent wildlife. An estimated 3 million large animals roam the plains. People of the Maasai Tribe called it Siringitu - 'the place where the land moves on forever.' Lake Manyara national park
Lake Manyara national park, which encompasses an area of 330 sq.km, of which 200 sq.km is lake, was proclaimed a game reserve in 1957 and registered three years later as a national Park. The park is situated between the 600 m high escarpment of the Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara and is 130 km from Arusha
Thus, it can be visited on a day excursion from this centre. At the Southern end of the park are hot Sulphur Springs known as Majimoto. Further along the forest the area opens up into woodlands, grassland, swamps and beyond, the soda lake itself.
Samburu and Shaba game reserves
In the arid North of Kenya, water means life. The waters of the great Ewaso Nyiro river draw wildlife in great numbers to its banks, creating an oasis of green.
The Samburu region is the best place to find several endemic Northern species, including gerenuk, the Reticulated Giraffe, and grevy’s Zebra. The forests along the river banks are home to many birds, including local species such as the Palm Nut Vulture and the vinaceous Dove. These forests are also home to many Leopards, often seen at dusk.
Nairobi national park
1. General Information. Nairobi National Park is located in Nairobi making it the only city in the world to boast a natural game park. The park borders the South Kapiti plains and Kitengela Migration Corridor. The Athi River conveniently forms a natural boundary to the south of the park.
Mount Kenya national park
Mt Kenya, Africa’s second highest peak is regarded as the realm of Ngai, God of the local Kikuyu people. Facing Mt Kenya Traditionally, all Kikuyu home were built to face this sacred peak. They call it Kirinyaga, or place of light. http://www.kws.go.ke/content/mount-kenya-national-park-reserve
The Amboseli national park
This is a place of wide dry plains, where the horizons stretch into the furthest distance and become one with the sky. Lake Nakuru national park
Lake Nakuru national park was established in 1961, and since then the park has increased considerably and now covers an area of 200sq km. It is the most famous of The Great Rift Valley lakes with "the world's greatest ornithological spectacle".
