Mount Kenya Climbing: 5 Days 4 Nights In Sirimon - Out Naro Moru Route

Naro Moru route is the quickest way to the base of the mountain and Pt. Lenana. It is also one of the steepest routes and extra care should be taken here to avoid problems with AMS. Walking up towards Mackinders Camp through the Teleki Valley offers superb views of the peaks of Batian and Nelion. A steep section known as the "vertical bog" is crossed around midway to Mackinders Hut and a stopover here is almost compulsory. The accommodations are good with bunkhouses at Met Station and Mackinder's Camp.

Mount Kenya Climbing: 5 Days 4 Nights In Chogoria - Out Sirimon

The Chogoria route is our recommended and arguably the most magnificent ascent route to the summit area. It is the driest route up the mountain and the walk beside the Gorges valley truly spectacular. The descent by the Sirimon route takes one through some beautiful forest tracks and completes the traverse of the mountain. Accommodation on this hike is 2 nights in mountain huts and 2 nights camping, or if you prefer, all nights camping on the mountain.

Mount Kenya Climbing: 4 Days 3 Nights In Sirimon – Out Chogoria Route

This creative climb joins two of the most scenic routes up Mount Kenya, Sirimon and Chogoria, producing a remarkably diverse and spectacular trek. Sirimon coming off the west of Mount Kenya passes through the dry side of the mountain with its giant trees and rocky terrain, and the descent onto the Chogoria path is exactly different with its lush bamboo and highland forests.

The final night time ascent of Point  Lenana can be as difficult as any ascent in East Africa, but the rest of the trek is generally considered easier than either Kilimanjaro or the Rwenzoris.
